Brasher Law Firm Partner Nishi Kothari Discusses Flood Insurance and Recovery in the Aftermath of the Deadly Kerr County, Texas Floods

Brasher Law Firm, PLLC partner Nishi Kothari was interviewed in the following piece for Realtor.com – “Will Insurance Cover the Damage From the Texas Floods? Victims Face Growing Questions About Recovery.” The article from reporter Dina Sartore-Bodo addresses the flash flood that happened on July 4th weekend. A heavy and sustained amount of rain caused the Guadalupe River to surge more than 20 feet, sweeping away homes, cars, and cabins, killing more than 100 people, with dozens still unaccounted for. The surge caused extensive flood damage and now those who live and own property in the area are left to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of that disaster, with many starting to file flood insurance claims.

“Regular home insurance doesn’t typically cover flood coverage, and it usually is an add-on that you have to buy in a separate private flood policy, or through FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program,” said Ms. Kothari.
