Why I Fight: The Story Behind Brasher Law Firm

From Clint Brasher, Founder of Brasher Law Firm:

Twenty years ago this month, I was searching for a place for my pregnant wife and our four kids to live after evacuating for Hurricane Rita. We were fortunate to find a mobile home close to our house, which meant our older children could stay in the same school. I had no idea how much that storm would change the course of my life.

At the time, I was a young lawyer, locked in a months-long battle with our insurance company just to get the funds we needed to repair our home. Despite clear evidence of the damage and repair costs, they delayed payment again and again. Out of frustration, we went ahead with the repairs, hoping the insurance company would eventually cover the difference.

That experience sparked something in me. I started digging into the law, trying to understand why insurers could get away with these delays. I discovered that Texas had legal protections against this kind of behavior—and that realization changed everything.

A few months later, I founded Brasher Law Firm. The photo above shows two of my very first clients. I helped them with their own Hurricane Rita claim. I remember thinking: If it was this hard for me, a lawyer, to get back into my home, how were others being treated?

We recently wrapped up a great injury settlement for her, but I’ll always remember her and Roland for believing in me when I was just starting out. Seeing her again reminded me of where this journey began—and why I do what I do.

We now have offices in Louisiana, Beaumont, and Houston, and handle cases as far away as Colorado. We have received verdicts in Amarillo, College Station, and Lake Charles, as well as in our local courts. Yet, it all started with cases like Thelma’s. To this day, I still tend to residential clients, even small damage cases, as I did when I started the firm. We like to say at the firm that there are no small cases, just small lawyers.
